Diary: Group Project, Dr. Allen, Burger Fries & Cherry Pie Restrurant

Today, my students gave presentations on their group projection using z or t proportion testing. There were two projects that I was very interested. One was the tanning and the other one was the Fake ID. I was surprised that there are more that 50% of those girls spending more than $20 for tanning. For the fake ID, they told me that students can get a fake ID in stores here in Lubbock for about $50 to $75 but I was mad at them at they did not find out which one.

I went to Dr. Allen's office and asked him a question that I could not solve for weeks of a prelim. He explained to me very well. I am glad that I went there to get extra help. I have to pass the prelim next month.

At night, Apple, Cathy, Eric, Hiro, Kumi, Sandy, Taka, Yoshi, Yuko and I went to Burger, Fries, and Cherry Pie restrurant. It was the first time that I went there. The price is ok and the burger is big but it did not taste better than a $1 burger in Taco Villa. I can say the cherry pie is just ok. We all came to my place to drink. We had a great time to talk, throwing darts, and drink at the back room but we still have a lot beer in the fridge.

Diary: Long day on Grading papers

I have been grading my class exam papers for the whole day. I just got it done. Lucky, I have the 240 amp with me when I graded. It really calm me down on grading hard to read writing on the exam.

I also fine turned the Pilot 240. It sounds just better and better. I am going to ask Keung and see if he wants it. I think it is a very good toy for him. I also post a copy of the review that I posted in the Pilot group. So I can always remember that I did that.

David went to Cafe J with Alin and all other people. I wanted to go but I really wanted to finish grading all my paper. Now my summer vacation is getting a lot closer than yesterday.

Impression on Pilot 240 vs Pilot sp-210 and sa-232 combo

I just got a pilot 240 last week from ebay. By looking at it, it feels well built. However,the output transformers on the 240 are very tiny comparing to the one from 232. Before I fired the 240, I looked down at it already.

I thought it would sound very worse and weak than 232. I warmed it up with a variac for a couple hours. Then I listened to it. I put all telefunken ribbed plates 12ax7 in there with amprerexgz34 and el84. I was suprized with the sound. It sounds close to the232 combo. The sound is very mellow, sweet, balance, and detail. I think it is even more detail than my sa-232 combo. So I tried thetele smooth plate later. The image is better with better high. Perhaps it is too bright for my ears.

To confirm the result, I tried my 232 combo. I have 3 different versions of sp210. One is the console version one with some good-all caps and some black beauty caps. The second one is a home version with all goodall caps. The third one is the one with all black beauty caps. Well, since the 240 uses all black beauty caps, I used the210 with all black beauty caps with the 232 with good all caps (I have 2 sa-232 but they all with good all caps). The 232 combo sounds a bit slower and also smoother comparing to 240. The sound is very very close to the 240.

Lately the 232 has been asking more and more on ebay. I think the240 is a very good buy to start with. I would say it is a very good amp. The only problem is that it is an integrated amp. Please post your experience with 240 or 232 if you have time!

Diary: Pilot 240 report & タイヨワのうた

I had a busy day today in school to do lots of work at Numerical Analysis. After school, I went home at about 7pm.

I got time to listen to the Pilot 240 with all the my 12ax7 tubes after dinner. I tried with all my precious tubes -- Amprerex, Mullard, and Telefunken. I was so surprised with the sound from 240. It sounds just so good that it is very close to the Pilot legend 232 combo. It is mellow, smooth, warm, good body, balance, detail and emotional. The 240 is outstanding. I just love it. I almost can see no difference with the 232. Of course the 232 looks better. Too bad, 240 is an integrated amp but it still has amazing sound. So after the listening test, I wrote a report of Pilot online group. I know that once this report out. The price of 240 may become double. Well, I don't mean my report has much impact. It is just because many people will get to know the rare Pilot sound.

I also got the chance to finish watching タイヨワのうた. This TV series is simply amazing and touching with very good moral behind. Thumbs up!

Diary: Presentation went well and My Summer is around the corner

The presentation went very well today even though I think it is a bit short. Well, I know at least I am done with this semester (No more final).

Dr Martins is an amazing teacher (He got his post phD in Harvard). By taking this class, he makes me to start a topic on Biomathematics from nothing. I am now be able to do some very solid work on Biostatistics on Modeling Type II Diabetes. And I also learnt the tricks to publish a paper in every 3 weeks. Hahaha! I am now a kind of expert in this diabete modeling. Perhaps, I may publish another paper of my work of his class.

Now in my life I have two more main things to focus on. First, it is the May 18th NA prelim. Second, it is my dissertation. My Summer is around the corner. Hahaha!

Diary: Preparing for Presentation Tomorrow

I got to school from 9 to 1 am at my office. I can't believe I could stay in my office that long (16 hours). I tried to come out something for tomorrow Dr. Martins class. The whole afternoon, I was just so lazy that I just browsed the youtube and watched Akiba San there. Afterward, I took a nap at 3:30pm, and right after the nap my lust of reading is back. I read and understood about 100 pages papers within minutes. I notice that I am so strange that I can read and think of something very creative the mins right after each nap, I guess this is my special skill or tricks on studying.

Anyway, later I took two more naps and I read about 250 pages of Sorensen paper on Gloucose modeling (A 500+ paper) plus other papers. At about 11:30pm, I finally had an idea of the presentations. I left my office at 1am and I went to Walmart to get some food. When I got home David was still awake so I cooked ramen for both of us and I fell asleep right after. What a long day!

Diary: The day after yesterday

After the party yesterday, I got up at 11:30am and I wanted to go to church with Quinn but I was so dizzy that I could not even walk straight. I heated up some food and ate very quick. I looked at the entertainment room and the bar. They were so dirty so I cleaned it up. David left when I got up. He and Brad's son went to Jetski on Lake Alan Henry. I wanted to go but I had to meet with Brian to do some NA to prepare for the prelim. Brian came at 2:30pm and we worked till 8pm and we only did about one and a half paper. I am still feeling a bit dizzy or I should say I am still drunk. I hope I will recover before tomorrow.

Diary: Doc, BBQ, Barns and noble, and party

Alin got here about noon. I cooked him and David lunch and we all went to strip to get some wins and beer. We got 80 bottles of beer, Mud slide, a gallon of red wine, Rum and more....... It was more than $120. Lucky, Alin paid for them. We also went to the new Market street on Quarker to get some chips and dips. After that I went to Quinn's home for BBQ. Tons of people were there. I enjoyed the food a lot. Quinn is also very good on using his grill. I took tons of pics there with the babes. We played some card games then I left to meet Yuko and Taka in Barns and noble. We talked about the trips to Japan. Yuko planned very well and also Taka and I made up our mind on traveling China. We would like to visit Beijing, Hunan, and Shalin. Yuko was tired and she went home afterward. Taka came to the party but people didn't show up until 11:30pm. We had so many fun people shew up. I think about 18 shew up. The bar was functioning so well and My listening room turned into a dance floor. And my Pilot amp and the Mcintosh turned into a disco amplifer and Loud speakers. I felt bad to use the very very nice Telefunken tubes for this purpose. Next time I will put some cheap tubes for party. We were all out dancing until 2 something. I drank so much that I could barely stand. I think I drank more than 10 beer and another 10 shots. After everyone left, I fell on my bed and passed out right away.

Btw, we had so much beer left over I think they are good enough for another party. Hahaha!

Diary: Band, Cleaning, and Eric

After school, I passed by Student Union and I took some pics of the band there. After I got home, David was cleaning for tomorrow party. I was so glad to help him out. We cleaned for about 2 and half hours. Yuko told me that they were going to Texas Cafe after the concert. I went there and joined them about 9:30pm. Eric (Kumi's boyfriend) is here from Taiwan. He is a nice person. He treated me so many beer. I was so drunk that I let Taka drove me home.
